It has been several months since my last post. Several busy, crazy, jam packed months. West has been busy painting and his minions, Colleen, the gallery director, myself, and Helena, the gallery owner (also his wife), have been busy letting people know about those new paintings and the much anticipated ‘Painting the Southern Coast: The Art of West Fraser,’ which was finally unleashed on the public, I mean, released in the middle of July. Helena and West then escaped to their Costa Rican paradise to recover, rest, paint, and get ready for this fall.

Speaking of the fall. What are you doing this fall? Drinking all the pumpkin flavored drinks, wearing your fall colored linen (well, that’s what we do here in the south), looking forward to that elusive cool air winging it’s way towards us from the frozen north? Yes? Ok, more specifically, what are you doing September 22nd at around 6pm? We will be engaged in a wonderful conversation with West about his new book (what? You haven’t heard of his new book ‘Painting the Southern Coast: The Art of West Fraser’ published by USC Press in July of this year? Now you have!) at the Charleston Library Society. You can follow this link to find out more as well as sign up for the event http://www.charlestonlibrarysociety.org/events-and-programs/2016/9/22/speaker-series-west-fraser.

If you can’t join us in September, your next chance to catch up with West and get a signed copy of ‘Painting the Southern Coast: The Art of West Fraser’ will be October 12th at the Gibbes Museum of Art. We will be in the gift shop from 6-7pm, come by, get a book, grab a bite in the new cafe, stroll through the garden and don’t miss the restored Campbell Rotunda Gallery–it is stunning.
As we release new events, we will of course keep you informed, but you can also stay up to date with West Fraser Studio events on our Facebook page or on our website https://westfraserstudio.com/, or on the gallery website, http://www.helenafoxfineart.com/. And of course you can get your daily dose of West Fraser Studio on Instagram @westfraserstudio.
We look forward to seeing you all this fall! Oh, by the way, West has a new book out from University of South Carolina Press. Just in case you didn’t know. 😉
