Playa Carrillo

Since marrying Helena, Costa Rica has become a sort of home away from home for West. Recently they joined friends for a little R&R in the ‘vacation oasis located in the tropical paradise of Playa Carrillo, ‘ Las Ventanas del Mar.

In West’s painting he has has always worked towards creating a sense of place–whether it be the shimmering marshes of his beloved lowcountry or the verdent jungle of Costa Rica. It is not just the objects in front of him he paints, but he creates a feeling of time and place. A love of travel has served his artistic instincts well.

Over the years he has created several paintings of his travels in this tropical landscape and with more frequent visits plans on creating more.
